KIPPRA Executive Director Dr Rose Ngugi participated in a stakeholder engagement workshop on reforming the tax policy and institutional measures for Kenya. Organized by the African Economic Research Consortium (AERC), the workshop was aimed at gaining stakeholder views and insights on the tax-related studies that are aimed at bringing about reforms in the tax policy, the tax instruments and how to optimize them to generate revenue equitably and cost-effectively. The chief guest for the engagement was Prof. Njuguna Ndung’u, Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury and Economic Planning.
The research papers presented are part of the priority research areas under the Government of Kenya – AERC – University of Copenhagen and University of Copenhagen Development Economics Research Group collaborative three-year economic research and policy making project geared towards developing fourteen research papers that will inform tax reforms in Kenya in the next three years. This research work will inform the Finance Bill and budget for FY 2024/25.
