KIPPRA signed an MoU with the Nairobi County Executive on Capacity Building of their newly formed Policy and Research department on 13th December 2023. Besides capacity building, other areas of mutual interests include collaborative research across the 10 sectors in NCCE, hosting joint Policy dialogue platforms, EMG conferences, and roundtable discussions. The MoU was signed by KIPPRA Executive Director Dr Rose Ngugi and Nairobi City County Director for Administration Mr Peter Ogolla.

In Kenya, about 83.6 per cent of the workforce is in the informal sector, contributing substantially to economic development but lacking financial security as they age due to limited access to pensions. Unlike formal sector employees with statutory pensions such as the National Social Security Fund (NSSF), informal workers are often excluded from these programmes.
