KIPPRA Holds Validation Workshop for 2020 Kenya Economic Report

As part of the process of producing its annual, statutory economic report, KIPPRA held a validation workshop to seek stakeholders’ input to its upcoming Kenya Economic Report 2020. The validation workshop, which was held in Nairobi on March 6th 2020, saw the presentation of the following chapters of the report: Macro-economic performance and inclusivity in devolved system of government; medium-term prospects; enhancing financial inclusion for inclusive growth; contribution of agriculture to food and nutrition security and inclusive growth; enabling inclusive growth through access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy sources; social mobility and inclusive growth: the role of social protection; governance in inclusive growth; and partnerships for inclusive growth.

To make introductory remarks and welcome participants were KIPPRA Executive Director Dr Rose Ngugi and the Board Chairperson Dr Linda Musumba. Representatives from various institutions gave their comments and contributions that will go a long way in sharpening and improving the document. Institutions represented were: Commission on Revenue Allocation (CRA), Ministry of East African Community and Regional Development (EAC&RD), Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC), International Monetary Fund (IMF), Inter-Governmental Relations and Technical Committee (IGRTC), Kenya Bankers Association (KBA), Kenya School of Government (KSG), Ministry of Agriculture (State Department of Livestock), Ministry of Devolution, Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, NGOs Coordination Board, Shipping and Maritime, Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) Directorate, National Treasury, Social Protection Directorate, State Department for Interior, State Department of Planning, State Department of Trade, State Department of Industrialization, State Department for Youth, Tegemeo Institute, The State Law Office and the World Bank.

In Conclusion the team was able to receive feedback and comments from the stakeholders  during the open session  and share contacts with the stakeholders as the Executive Director closed the workshop.
