Courtesy Call by Delegation from the Chinese Embassy

A delegation from the Chinese Embassy led by the Chinese Ambassador to Kenya, H.E Zhou Pingjian paid a courtesy call to KIPPRA on 23rd November 2023. The delegation was received by KIPPRA Executive Director Dr Rose Ngugi, Director Economic Management, Dr Eldah Onsomu and Director Corporate Services, Ms Irene Mithia.

The delegation was taken through an overview of KIPPRA’s mandate by KIPPRA Executive Director, Dr Rose Ngugi.  Dr Ngugi emphasized the need to share information and link with Chinese scholars as part of the South-South collaborations. The ED encouraged the delegation to consider having Chinese think tanks join the Southern Voice initiative.

 The ambassador underscored the long-standing relationship between Kenya and China which goes back many years since independence. The delegation noted that their overall aim is to familiarize themselves with the work of KIPPRA and economic issues on Kenya. The Ambassador further noted KIPPRA’s reputation as a leading think tank in Africa and the fact that he has utilized our repository as a useful source of information on the economic, political, and social issues in the country with a notable mention of the KER

KIPPRA invited the Chinese embassy to participate in the conference. The call for papers was shared with the embassy and the Ambassador noted that they are keen to create linkages between KIPPRA ,Chinese scholars and Think Tanks..
