KIPPRA and KNBS participated in the 5th National Information Platform for Nutrition (NIPN) Global Gathering in Brussels, Belgium from 6th to 9th June 2023. The Global Gathering aimed at bringing together different NIPN Platforms to discuss and work together towards communication for results and sustainability of the platforms. The gathering was graced by Ms Afshah Khan, UN Assistant Secretary General, eight NIPN implementing countries and implementing partners GIZ and UNICEF.
The National Information Platform for Nutrition (NIPFN) is an initiative of the European Commission with support from the United Kingdom Department for International Development and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. KIPPRA and KNBS are the two state corporations mandated with the implementation of the project in Kenya.
NIPFN team discussed their role in implementing the project and outputs developed and participated in panel discussions on communication to decision makers. The team also developed NIPN sustainability poster and presented at the Global Gathering. The gathering gave the team an opportunity to share Kenya’s experience in implementing the project and learn from other implementing countries. Sustainability of the platform is the key highlight of the gathering with issues such as capacity building, monitoring and evaluation, regular and continuous communication of NIPFN across counties and implementation of NIPFN at the sub-national level dominating the discussions. The Kenya NIPFN team concluded the global gathering by meeting with officials from Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), discussions centred on how to effectively implement the project in Kenya.
