Tree Planting Exercise at Kericho, Nyandarua, Bungoma and Baringo Counties

KIPPRA participated in a tree planting exercise on 10th and 11th October 2025 in Kericho, Nyandarua, Bungoma, and Baringo counties to mark Mazingira Day. The KIPPRA team, in collaboration with the Kenya Forest Service (KFS), planted 9,500 trees as part of efforts to promote environmental conservation under the national theme, “Citizen-centric tree growing and environmental stewardship.” The exercise brought together KIPPRA and KFS staff, as well as teachers and pupils from primary schools in Mwenja (Nyandarua), Ossen (Baringo), Banantega (Bungoma), and Tingoru and Pinus in Kericho County, reinforcing community participation in environmental stewardship.

This initiative forms part of the Institute’s corporate social responsibility and supports the Presidential directive to plant 15 billion trees by 2032. KIPPRA will continue to partner with KFS and local schools to establish tree nurseries aimed at fostering sustainability, environmental learning, and income-generating opportunities for communities. Tree planting remains one of the most effective and accessible actions for addressing environmental challenges, including climate change mitigation, biodiversity conservation, and the improvement of livelihoods and ecosystem health.
