It was all joy and excitement at the 18th graduation ceremony for KIPPRA young professionals. The ceremony which took place on 21st December 2021 was graced by Chairperson KIPPRA Board of Directors Prof. Ben Sihanya, Executive Director Dr Rose Ngugi, representatives of Cabinet Secretary The National Treasury Hon Amb. Ukur Yatani, Principal Secretary, State Department for Planning Mr Saitoti Torome and Principal Secretary, Youth Affairs Mr Charles Sunkuli.
Graduands faces shone with excitement as they reminisced about their time as young professionals and their efforts which has finally bore fruit. The current young professionals were at hand to make the day memorable as they entertained graduands and guests with Masai folk dance and songs.
KIPPRA’s young professionals programme was started in 2003, the programme targets to enhance the technical competence in evidence-based policy process and build research capabilities of participants. The participants of this programme are young persons from both public and private sector at initial stages of their career.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony chairperson KIPPRA Board of Directors, Prof. Ben Sihanya emphasised on the importance of public policy research in the development of evidenced-based policies, Prof Sihanya further thanked KIPPRA staff for their commitment to their duties and encouraged them to keep up with the same spirit. KIPPRA Executive Director Dr Rose Ngugi on her part challenged graduands to put into practice the knowledge gained and contribute to the national development goals.
The ceremony came to a close with the award of certificates to graduands.
