KIPPRA, in collaboration with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the European Union (EU), hosted a Dissemination and National Policy Dialogue Workshop on Circularity and Used Textiles Trade in Kenya on 15th July 2025.
The workshop brought together key stakeholders, including representatives from government ministries, industry associations, development partners, civil society, academia, and experts from the textile sector, to discuss findings and recommendations from the ongoing project on the circularity of the used textiles value chain and its trade dynamics in Kenya.
The dialogue provided a platform to deliberate on policy interventions that promote sustainable textile management, reduce environmental impact, and enhance Kenya’s transition towards a circular economy. Participants explored opportunities for value addition, improved waste management, and policy coherence to strengthen the textile value chain and create green jobs.
KIPPRA, UNEP, and the EU reaffirmed their commitment to supporting Kenya’s efforts in promoting sustainable trade practices, circular production systems, and evidence-based policymaking for a more resilient and inclusive economy.
