KIPPRA launched the Kenya Economic Report 2025 on 16th December 2025 in Nairobi alongside the Kenya Fiscal Incidence Analysis Report during KIPPRA Day celebrations, marking a significant milestone in strengthening evidence-based economic and fiscal policymaking in the country. The launch ceremony was officially opened by the Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury and Economic Planning, Hon. John Mbadi, and was attended by the Principal Secretary, State Department for Economic Planning, Dr Bonface Makokha, KIPPRA Board Chairperson Prof. Paul Wachana, KIPPRA Board Directors, and representatives from government, development partners, and the private sector. In his keynote address, Hon. Mbadi highlighted the positive trajectory of Kenya’s economy despite prevailing global and domestic challenges.

Citing findings from the report, the Cabinet Secretary noted that Kenya recorded 4.7 per cent economic growth in 2024, driven largely by strong performance in agriculture and key services sectors. “This underscores the resilience of our economy and its capacity to withstand global economic pressures and domestic challenges,” he said. Dr Makokha, in his remarks emphasized the importance of credible data and rigorous analytical reports in informing national development planning and fiscal policy formulation. During the event Dr Onsomu reaffirmed KIPPRA’s mandate to generate timely and policy-relevant research to support inclusive growth, fiscal sustainability, and equitable development.

The Kenya Economic Report 2025 provides a comprehensive assessment of recent economic developments, sectoral performance, and the country’s macroeconomic outlook. Meanwhile, the Kenya Fiscal Incidence Analysis Report examines the distributional impact of public spending and taxation on income and household welfare across different population groups. Together, the two reports offer critical insights to guide policy interventions aimed at enhancing economic resilience, promoting equity, and fostering shared prosperity in Kenya.
