KIPPRA held its 21st graduation ceremony for the 2023/24 cohort of Young Professionals on September 12, 2024. The event was officiated by the Principal Secretary for the State Department for Planning Mr James Muhati and attended by the KIPPRA Board of Directors, led by Chairperson Prof. Benson Ateng’, and Executive Director Dr Rose Ngugi.
This year, 30 Young Professionals (YPs) successfully completed the programme. Since its inception in 2003, the one-year flagship capacity-building programme has produced 395 graduates. It was initiated to lay a strong foundation in public policy making and analysis for young policymakers from both the public and private sectors. The programme aims to enhance technical competence in evidence-based policy processes.
Throughout the programme, the YPs underwent rigorous training and applied their skills to develop research papers on various topical themes. They also contributed blogs and policy briefs, which were published by KIPPRA (https://kippra.or.ke/young-professionals-2023-2024-research-output/). At the ceremony, each of the graduates was awarded a certificate of achievement in recognition of their successful completion of the programme.
This milestone celebration underscores KIPPRA’s continued contribution to nurturing future leaders equipped with the skills and knowledge to drive Kenya’s policy agenda forward.
