KIPPRA, in collaboration with UNICEF and the KNBS, hosted a side event at the Devolution Conference on 15th August 2025. The forum, themed “Financing Social Sectors for Equity and Inclusion,” brought together county leaders, development partners, policymakers, and civil society actors to explore strategies for strengthening investments in key social sectors such as health, education, water, sanitation, and social protection.
The event which was graced by Kisumu County Governor, H.E Peter Anyang Nyong’o and PS Economic Planning, Dr Bonface Makokha sought to examine how counties can mobilize and allocate resources more effectively to address socio-economic disparities and ensure that vulnerable and marginalized groups have equitable access to essential services.

The event also saw the launch of two reports titled “Brighter Tomorrows: Cycles of Poverty for Kenya’s Children” and “Women Empowerment”. Also in attendance were KIPPRA Board Chairperson Prof.Paul Wachana, KIPPRA Executive Director, Dr Eldah Onsomu, UNICEF Chief of Social Policy, Dr Gabby Guerrero and KNBS Director General, Dr Macdonald Obudho.
