The Ag. ED, Dr Eldah Onsomu, participated in the African Think Tanks Strategic Dialogue in Morocco on 5th to 6th May 2025. The event was themed “Africa in Transition: The Power of African Think Tanks in Analysis, Anticipation, and Adaptation.”
The gathering brought together heads of think tanks and policy research institutions from Africa to discuss Africa’s evolving development landscape and the critical role of evidence-based analysis in addressing current and emerging challenges. The Ag. ED was one of the key speakers during a session titled “Building Sustainable Solutions: Adapting Africa to Global Risks, Accelerating its Development, and Strengthening its Position in the World.” The session focused on the adaptation strategies that African think tanks can propose and support, based on the risks identified. It aimed at formulating concrete, innovative, and context-specific recommendations to anticipate, mitigate, or transform these risks into opportunities for transformation.

Dr. Onsomu highlighted Kenya’s experience in leveraging policy research to guide economic reform and youth empowerment initiatives, and underscored KIPPRA’s commitment to supporting public policy that is forward-looking and responsive to both local and global dynamics. The Strategic Dialogue served as a critical platform for peer learning, alliance building, and the co-creation of policy pathways that can guide Africa through transitions in governance, technology, climate, and the global economy.
