KIPPRA participated in the 58th Session of the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) from 28th March t0 4th April 2026 in Morrocco. The Institute was represented by the Executive Director Dr Eldah Onsomu at the high-level forum that brought together policymakers, researchers, development partners, and private sector leaders from across the continent to deliberate on strategies for accelerating Africa’s economic transformation.

During the session, Dr Onsomu took part in a panel discussion examining the role of fintech, digital finance, cryptocurrency regulation, and financial inclusion in advancing youth entrepreneurship and job creation in Africa. The panel focused on how emerging financial technologies can help address long-standing challenges that limit young people’s access to capital, markets, and economic opportunities. In her presentation, Dr Onsomu emphasized the importance of strong public policy frameworks in shaping sustainable fintech ecosystems. She noted that while fintech innovations have grown rapidly across Africa, governments must create enabling regulatory environments that protect consumers while encouraging innovation.
