On 21st to 23rd June, the KIPPRA Computable General Equilibrium (CGE) team attended an intensive CGE training workshop organized as part of the implementation of the Strengthening Policy and Practice Frameworks for Skills Development in Africa (StEPPFoS) project by the RUFORUM WP2 leader. The training was categorized into beginner and intermediate sessions and attracted participants from nine African nationalities, creating a vibrant learning environment for economic policy practitioners across the continent.

Following the training, on 24th June 2025, the KIPPRA team attended the General Assembly of the Pan-African Network for Applied Economics and Policy (PANAP). KIPPRA was appointed to the PANAP Steering Committee, representing the East Africa region. This appointment is a significant milestone in strengthening the Institute’s voice and role in shaping regional economic policy discourse. Notably, KIPPRA’s Executive Director now holds a seat on the Steering Committee, reinforcing the institution’s leadership in applied economics across the continent.

From 25th to 27th June, the team participated in the 28th Global Trade Analysis Project (GTAP) Conference, held at Radisson Blu, Kigali. The conference provided a practical extension of the CGE training, featuring the presentation of various research papers developed using CGE modelling techniques. KIPPRA researchers Joshua Laichena and Shadrack Mwatu presented their papers during the conference.
The Institute was represented by Joshua Laichena, Shadrack Mwatu, Hillary Wakhungu, Frank Kaloi, Jacinta Anomat, and Elvis Kiptoo.
