On March 21, 2025, KIPPRA joined the global community in celebrating the International Day of Forests at Katimok, marking the occasion with a bold commitment to environmental conservation.
As part of this initiative, the Institute planted 3,000 trees and, in partnership with Kenya Forest Service (KFS) pledged to adopt 19.5 hectares of land that will accommodate 40,000 tree seedlings in the coming weeks.

Ms. Hellen Shikuku (Forest Manager, Kabarnet) emphasized the role of forests in providing herbal medicine and the importance of working with CFAs to ensure sustainable farming and forest conservation. Mr. Victor Mose (Ag. HoD, CBD – KIPPRA) reaffirmed KIPPRA’s commitment to policy-driven environmental conservation initiatives. Ms. Anne Nyaoke, HSC (Chief Forest Conservator, Baringo County) pledged to support KIPPRA in ensuring equitable access to land for tree planting while addressing illegal activities like charcoal burning. Dr. Richard Tamar (CECM, Environment & Climate, Baringo County – Governor’s Representative) assured county government support through collaborative efforts with stakeholders.
KACOFA & Saw Millers Association committed to playing an active role in conservation, including transportation of seedlings and guiding the planting process.
