KIPPRA held a planning meeting with Dr Emanuele Ferrari and Dr Victor Nechifor from the Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission to advance preparations for upcoming technical workshops on forest and landscape restoration policy scheduled for 21st and 22nd January in Nairobi on 20th January 2026. The engagement focused on aligning objectives, scope, and expected outputs of the workshops, which will support the rollout and national uptake of the Kenya Environment and Economic Modelling Framework (KENEMO).
The discussions emphasized the role of the planned workshops as platforms for technical validation, co-design, and restitution bringing together policymakers and technical experts to ground advanced modelling tools in Kenya’s policy processes. Key areas of focus include integrated land-use planning, climate finance and budgeting, MRV systems, and evidence-based targeting of forest and landscape restoration investments.

This engagement that was facilitated by Mr Joshua Laichena and Dr Evans Ng’enoh from productive sector department underscores KIPPRA’s role in bridging science and policy, ensuring that cutting-edge modelling developed with JRC is institutionally embedded, nationally owned, and directly responsive to Kenya’s development and climate priorities.
