On November 7, 2024, the Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA) hosted a delegation from the Federal Government of Somalia. Led by Mr. Abdinasir Warsame, Director of the Planning and Coordination Unit at Somalia’s Ministry of Finance, the delegation was received by KIPPRA’s Director of Economic Management, Dr. Eldah Onsomu.
The delegation included representatives from key Somali institutions, including the Ministry of Finance, Somalia National Bureau of Statistics (SNBS), Ministry of Planning, Investment and Economic Development (MOPIED), Central Bank of Somalia (CBS), and the Office of the Accountant General. Discussions revolved around potential collaborations in macroeconomic modelling, capacity building for Somali officers, and fostering knowledge exchange between the two institutions.
This engagement builds on KIPPRA’s commitment to regional collaboration, following a successful macroeconomic modelling training for Somali Central Bank officers in 2023. The partnership highlights the shared vision of advancing economic policy development for regional stability and growth in the Horn of Africa.
Senior Policy Analyst Mr. Adan Shibia and other policy analysts from KIPPRA’s Macroeconomics and Partnerships departments also participated in the discussions.
