KIPPRA held a meeting with Ms. Diana Warira, a representative from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, to explore opportunities for strategic collaboration, with a particular focus on policy research in women’s economic empowerment.
The meeting, held at KIPPRA’s headquarters on 17th April 2025, brought together senior officials and research staff. The discussions centered on the critical role of gender-inclusive economic policies in driving sustainable development in Kenya and the broader Sub-Saharan Africa region.
Ms. Warira expressed strong interest in the Institute’s ongoing research and policy advisory work, especially initiatives targeting women’s participation in economic activities, access to productive resources, and social protection mechanisms. “KIPPRA’s role in shaping public policy through evidence-based research makes it a strategic partner in advancing the Foundation’s goals around gender equality and women’s empowerment,” she noted.
The engagement also provided an opportunity for KIPPRA to share insights into its upcoming Annual Regional Conference, scheduled for later this year. Ms. Warira was briefed on the conference theme, objectives, and potential areas of partnership, including technical support, joint research, and knowledge dissemination platforms. The conference is expected to convene regional policymakers, researchers, and development partners to discuss shaping pathways to future jobs for the youth.
