On 19th February 2025, KIPPRA hosted a delegation from the National Youth Council (NYC), led by CEO Ms. Gloria Wawira, to explore avenues for enhanced collaboration on youth-focused policy initiatives.
The meeting centered on aligning efforts to empower Kenyan youth through evidence-based policy research, capacity building, and inclusive development strategies. The discussions at the meeting focused on exploring collaborative opportunities between the two institutions among them undertaking collaborative research focusing on youth, continued engagements and capacity building at the KIPPRA Mentorship Programme for Universities and TVETs (KMPUTs) on various NYC initiatives, partnership at the 8th KIPPRA Annual Regional Conference and in youth in climate action initiatives.

KIPPRA’s Ag. Executive Director, Dr. Eldah Onsomu, emphasized the institute’s commitment to fostering partnerships that amplify youth voices in policymaking processes. She noted that collaborative initiatives with organizations like the NYC are pivotal in shaping policies that resonate with the aspirations and needs of the younger generation.
Ms. Wawira expressed appreciation for KIPPRA’s role in providing a platform for research and policy analysis, underscoring the potential for joint programs that focus on youth employment, entrepreneurship, and civic engagement. She highlighted the NYC’s ongoing efforts to mobilize and represent youth interests at various levels of governance.
