KIPPRA Hosts Mentorship Programme at Kenyatta University

KIPPRA held its Mentorship Programme for Universities and TVETs (KMPUTs) at Kenyatta University on 6th and 7th November 2024. The exciting event saw students learn about the public policy making process, Kenya’s development agenda, professional and career development, the effects of alcohol and drug abuse, innovation and entrepreneurship opportunities, and affordable financing initiatives to support youth businesses.

The students also got an opportunity to put their public policy knowledge to practice through writing essays and participating in policy debates.

The event was attended by the KIPPRA Executive Director Dr Rose Ngugi, KIPPRA Board Vice Chairperson Ms Christine Wanjala and Prof. Grace Bunyi, Registrar (Corporate Affairs) who represented the VC, Prof. Waceke Wanjohi.

The KMPUTs is one of the KIPPRA’s capacity building programme aimed at creating awareness and developing capacity of the University Community and TVETs in understanding the public policy making process for their effective participation in the public policy making processes.

To deliver the programme, the Institute partners with various government and non-government organisations, National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA), State Department of Economic Planning, SME Support Centre, Youth Enterprise Development Fund,  National Employment Authority, National Council for Persons with Disabilities, Directorate of National Cohesion and Values, National Gender and Equality Commission, National Youth Council as well as the hosting county governments.
