On 1st July 2025, KIPPRA hosted Dr. Aishwarya Lakshmi Ratan, Deputy Director of the Economic Growth Center at Yale University, for an engagement focused on exploring strategic areas of collaboration in research, policy development, and capacity building.
The meeting was led by Acting Executive Director, Dr. Eldah Onsomu, and attended by Dr. Eliud Moyi, Dr. Nancy Nafula, Adan Shibia, and Shadrack Mwatu.
The discussions covered a broad spectrum of potential collaboration areas aligned with shared priorities in evidence-based policy making including joint research in gender and labour, markets and development, climate and energy, economic modelling, strengthening mechanisms to translate research into actionable public policy, establishing staff and scholar exchange initiatives, mentorship programmes, and joint fellowships and co-hosting conferences, seminars, and policy dialogues to foster continuous knowledge exchange.
Dr. Ratan expressed enthusiasm for the potential partnership and commended KIPPRA’s role in advancing public policy in Kenya and the region. The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to develop a structured collaboration framework and initiate joint activities in the near future.
