KIPPRA hosted a delegation from the Embassy of Sweden for a high-level engagement focused on strengthening trade policy collaboration on 16th May 2025. The visiting delegation was led by Mr. Petter Stålenheim, Senior Trade Policy Adviser at the National Board of Trade Sweden (NBT).
Mr. Stålenheim’s visit to Nairobi forms part of an ongoing Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) mission, which aims to support Kenya’s integration into the OECD Trade in Value Added (TiVA) database. The TiVA database is a vital tool used globally to provide insights into how value is added at each stage of the production chain across countries—enabling countries like Kenya to develop more evidence-based trade and industrial policies.

During the meeting, discussions centered focused on potential areas of collaboration between KIPPRA and the National Board of Trade Sweden, particularly in research and capacity building to support Kenya’s participation in global value chains. Both institutions acknowledged the importance of reliable trade data and analysis in shaping informed, inclusive, and competitive trade policies.
