KIPPRA Graduates 17th Cohort of Young Professionals

KIPPRA held a graduation ceremony for the 2019/2020 Young Professionals (YPs) to celebrate their achievements and completion of their one-year intensive training programme.

The YP Programme is KIPPRA’s flagship capacity development programme that graduates 10-14 officers each year. The programme was initiated from the need to lay a strong foundation on public policy making and analysis for young policymakers in the public and private sector in Kenya. The YP programme supports KIPPRA’s mandate of developing capacities in public policy research and analysis and assisting the Government in the process of policy formulation and implementation. It aims to enhance technical competence in evidence-based policy process. Since it was inaugurated in 2003, it has graduated over 192 YPs.

The ceremony was held on 23rd October 2020 and was graced by KIPPRA Board of Directors led by the Chairperson Dr Linda Musumba and Executive Director Dr Rose Ngugi. The event started with academic procession and later a panel discussion where YPs shared their experience of the programme.

Dr Linda Musumba, in her speech, urged the YPs to contribute to the policy options to solve the current challenges affecting the country. Dr Rose Ngugi, on her part, underscored the importance of the programme in contributing to the achievement of the national development goals through developing capacities in public policy research and analysis.

The event was concluded with award of certificates to the graduands and later the current cohort of YPs entertained the guests with songs and dance.
