KIPPRA Called on the Speaker of the National Assembly

KIPPRA called on the Speaker of the National Assembly, Rt. Hon. Moses Wetangula, on 6th November 2025 to strengthen collaboration on evidence-based policymaking and legislative research support. The KIPPRA delegation was led by Board Chair, Prof. Paul Wachana, and Executive Director, Dr Eldah Onsomu, accompanied by senior members of the Institute’s management team. The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss ongoing and future partnerships between KIPPRA and Parliament aimed at enhancing the use of research and data to inform national legislation, oversight, and budget processes.

The Speaker commended KIPPRA for its pivotal role in providing policy research and analysis to inform national decision-making. He emphasized the importance of innovation, research, and sound policy frameworks in driving Kenya’s socio-economic transformation. To deepen collaboration, he proposed a partnership between KIPPRA and the Centre for Parliamentary Studies and Training (CPST) through a Memorandum of Understanding to jointly design curricula and capacity-building programmes for Members of Parliament on research-informed legislation and policy analysis. Speaking during the meeting, Prof. Paul Wachana reaffirmed KIPPRA’s commitment to supporting Parliament through high-quality policy research, analysis, and capacity-building programmes. He highlighted the Institute’s role in providing timely and objective evidence to guide policy formulation and implementation across all sectors of the economy.
