The KIPPRA Board hosted Kenyan Ambassador to Cuba, H.E. Everlyne Mwenda Karisa, on April 23, 2026, for discussions on strengthening collaboration between KIPPRA and public policy think tanks in Cuba and the wider Caribbean region.
Led by Board Chair Prof. Paul Wachana and Executive Director Dr Eldah Onsomu, the KIPPRA team highlighted the Institute’s role in supporting evidence-informed policymaking through policy research, capacity building, policy dialogue and advisory services. The team also showcased KIPPRA’s recognition as a leading think tank in Sub-Saharan Africa and its upcoming role as host of a Centre of Excellence for East and Central Africa.

Ambassador Karisa, who also serves as Kenya’s non-resident Ambassador to several Caribbean countries, including Jamaica and the Dominican Republic, reaffirmed her commitment to facilitating partnerships that strengthen policy research, knowledge exchange and institutional collaboration between Kenya and the Caribbean.
The meeting identified opportunities for benchmarking with Caribbean think tanks, joint research on shared socio-economic challenges and resource mobilization to support policy research. Discussions also explored future collaboration in trade, investment and regional policy dialogue, including participation in the Fifth Annual AfriCaribbean Trade and Investment Forum and the upcoming KIPPRA Annual Regional Conference.
