KIPPRA Board Chair, Prof. Paul Wachana, held a series of high-level engagements today with key stakeholders in government and academia.
Prof. Wachana began his day with a consultative meeting with the Cabinet Secretary for Cooperatives and MSMEs Development, Hon. Dr Wycliffe Oparanya. Their discussions focused on the review and development of the ministry policies and exploring new areas of strategic partnerships. Dr Oparanya expressed appreciation for KIPPRA’s technical expertise, underscoring that the institute should take a leading role in planning and policy formulation across ministries and state corporations.

In a show of support, the CS invited the Principal Secretary for MSMEs Development, Hon. Susan Mang’eni, to join the discussions. Hon. Mang’eni, who previously served at KIPPRA, reaffirmed her strong connection to the institute and pledged to foster close collaboration, particularly in the upcoming national conference on MSMEs. She committed to sharing priority areas where KIPPRA’s participation would be most impactful and proposed a follow-up meeting to explore further avenues for cooperation.

Later in the day, Prof. Wachana met with the leadership of Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST), led by Deputy Vice Chancellor for Planning, Research, and Innovation, Prof. Peter Bukhala. The teams reviewed the existing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and agreed on strengthening joint initiatives, including curriculum development, resource mobilization, and capacity building across multiple sectors.
The MMUST team extended an invitation to KIPPRA for a future visit to the university to deepen the collaboration and implement actionable outcomes from today’s dialogue. The Board Chair was accompanied by Prof. Joseph Keiyah and Dr George Lutomia.
