The Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA), in collaboration with UNICEF Kenya, officially launched two policy reports during the opening ceremony of the 9th Annual Regional Conference held in Mombasa from May 21, 2026. The reports provide evidence-based insights to strengthen child-focused public financing and promote climate-resilient development planning in Kenya.

The two publications: “Children First: Smarter Budgets, Fairer Futures – Kenya County Budget Briefs (FY2019–FY2023)” and Climate Finance: Its Implications for Children in Kenya,” were unveiled during the conference’s opening session, officiated by Principal Secretary for Children Welfare Services CPA Carren Ageng’o. Also present were Principal Secretary for Economic Planning Dr Bonface Makokha, KIPPRA Board Chairperson Prof. Paul Wachana, KIPPRA Executive Director Dr Eldah Onsomu, Board Members, UNICEF Kenya Representative Dr Shaheen Nilofer, development partners and other distinguished guests.
The reports were jointly developed by KIPPRA and UNICEF Kenya to provide policymakers with timely evidence for strengthening public policy and investment decisions that directly impact children and vulnerable populations.
The launch of the two publications marked a significant milestone in advancing child-centred public policy and climate-responsive development in Kenya, providing national and county governments with valuable evidence to inform planning, budgeting and policy implementation.
