On 22nd November 2024, KIPPRA, in collaboration with the Partnership for Economic Policy (PEP), hosted the National Conference on Youth Employment. The event, held in Nairobi, focused on reviewing the impact of youth policies in Kenya and exploring actionable solutions to address the unemployment challenges facing the youth.
During the conference, KIPPRA Senior Policy Analysts, Ms. Anne Gitonga and Mr. Boaz Munga, presented findings and policy recommendations from a comprehensive study on youth employment in Kenya. The research highlighted key issues such as skill mismatches, limited access to opportunities, and structural barriers affecting young people in the workforce.
The discussions during the conference aimed to foster meaningful dialogue among policymakers, stakeholders, and youth representatives on enhancing existing employment strategies. Participants also deliberated on innovative approaches to create sustainable jobs and ensure inclusive growth for Kenya’s youth.
The event marked a significant step toward strengthening policy frameworks and promoting collaborative efforts to empower young people economically, a priority for Kenya’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
