KIPPRA and Laikipia County Forge Partnership for Enhanced Policy Implementation

On October 24-25, 2024, the Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA) hosted a county dissemination workshop in Laikipia County, presenting key findings and policy recommendations from studies focused on Kenya’s devolved units. Led by KIPPRA Executive Director Dr. Rose Ngugi, the team shared insights with Laikipia’s senior county officials, covering indexes such as the Public Affairs Index, County Business Environment for MSEs, County Climate Change Preparedness Index, and the County Nutrition Index, among others.

The workshop culminated in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between KIPPRA and Laikipia County Government on October 25. The MOU, endorsed by Dr. Ngugi and Laikipia County Governor Hon. Joshua Irungu, establishes a framework for collaboration on capacity building, technical policy assistance, and youth development. The agreement emphasizes training county staff on public policy formulation and analysis, strengthening Laikipia’s ability to implement effective, evidence-based policies.
