The kereita forest challenge is an annual event organized by the East African Wildlife society (EAWS), Kijabe Environment volunteers (KENVO) and the Kenya Forest Service (KFS). The challenge is a unique get away from the humdrum routine of the city life to plunge into a fun sport in a pristine natural environment that Kereita forest offers

Individuals and corporates participate in this event as a true demonstration of their passion and dedication to the protection of the country’s forests. During the event, participants have fun while championing for this important cause which leaves them with a memorable and unique experience of the country’s main water catchment forest.

Last year’s event took place on 30th November 2019 with over 50 corporates taking part. KIPPRA participated in the event for the 2nd time by sponsoring a number of 45 participants compared to 15 participants the previous year. The team from KIPPRA included 40 members of Staff and five board members.

The challenges were tougher last year compared to the previous year with harsh weather conditions but both teams braved the weather conditions by going through all the obstacles in the forest in the spirit of team work thus appreciating the main water catchment areas within the forest. Some of the obstacles included spider web crawl, tyre spin. Dark tunnel, river crossing, skipping mud pits, wheelbarrow rave among others

Later on after the challenge, KIPPRA staff and board members engaged in a tree planting activity where they planted over 1500 trees
