High Commissioner of India to Kenya Visits KIPPRA

High Commissioner of India to Kenya H.E Namgya Khampa called on KIPPRA Executive Director Dr Rose Ngugi on 25th October 2022. The High Commissioner got an opportunity to learn more about KIPPRA’s role in policy research space. Discussions centred on KIPPRA’s collaboration with think tanks in India on research & capacity building.

The High Commissioner promised to link KIPPRA with Think Tanks in India. KIPPRA is already working with Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS) an India based autonomous policy research institute that specialises in issues related to international economic development, trade, investment, and technology. The think tank was connected to KIPPRA through the high commission and has made presentations at 4th KIPPRA Annual Regional Conference.

The High Commissioner also invited KIPPRA to participate in the commemoration of International Year of Millets in 2023. The commemoration of the international day was adopted by UN General Assembly after a proposal was brought forward by the Government of India and endorsed by Members of FAO Governing Bodies. The international day seeks to create awareness about the importance of cultivating millets can grow on relatively poor soils and under adverse and arid conditions, with comparatively fewer inputs than other cereals but with great potential of addressing climate change and food security.
