The State Department for Economic Planning Principal Secretary, Mr James Muhati paid a visit to KIPPRA to familiarize himself with the Institute’s mandate and meet the management and staff. The PS was accompanied by the Economic Planning Secretary Ms Katherine Muoki, the Director for Macroeconomic Department Mr Zackary Mwangi, the Director of Administration Mr Joel Makori and staff from the Public Communications Department.
The PS got a chance to tour the KIPPRA offices and interact with staff at their workstations before having a meeting with the Executive Director Dr Rose Ngugi and the Institute’s management team. Dr Ngugi gave a brief overview of the Institute, including its inception, mandate, funding, organizational structure, milestones and achievements, key ongoing and upcoming activities, various automations being implemented and a highlight of some of the challenges the Institute faces in the delivery of its mandate.
After the presentation, the PS had a chance to ask questions and seek clarifications on various issues concerning the Institute. He also offered advice on how to tackle some of the challenges. The PS then gave a formal speech, highlighting the important role that KIPPRA plays in the country. He then pledged the Government’s support to the Institute to ensure it delivers its mandate.
