Economic Planning Director General Visits KIPPRA

KIPPRA hosted the newly appointed Director General of Economic Planning, Dr. Masini Ichwara, in a visit aimed at strengthening collaboration between the Institute and the State Department for Economic Planning on 8th September 2025.

Dr. Ichwara was warmly received by KIPPRA’s Acting Executive Director, Dr. Eldah Onsomu, Board Director, Mr. Timothy Gakuu, and members of the senior management team. On arrival, the Director General toured KIPPRA offices, where he interacted with staff and young professionals under the Institute’s capacity-building programmes.

The DG later met the management team, where Dr. Onsomu highlighted KIPPRA’s focus areas for the 2025/26 financial year. These include advancing policy research on value chains, enhancing capacity-building initiatives, training of Central Planning And Project Monitoring Unit staff and establishing an Economic Modeling Hub to support the implementation of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), Vision 2030 and other national development priorities.

In his remarks, Dr. Ichwara commended KIPPRA for its pivotal role in generating evidence-based policy advice. He emphasized the need for stronger synergies between KIPPRA and the State Department for Economic Planning, noting that closer collaboration would ensure that research and planning effectively complement each other in driving socio-economic transformation.
