KIPPRA Researchers’ Workshop

KIPPRA held a two-day researchers’ workshop on 8th and 9th June 2023 with an objective of enhancing the relevance of KIPPRA policy research and analysis in influencing policy decisions. This included improving the structure and categories of publication series as well as the peer review process. The policy analysts also learnt how to do well researched journals, blogs and media articles and effective engagement with the media.

KIPPRA Staff keenly follow the proceedings of the researcher’s workshop

KIPPRA invited external facilitators from the policy arena and the media to share their expertise, experiences and knowledge. Mr Ede Ijjasz from African Growth Initiative, Brookings, gave a presentation on research methodology, writing of policy papers, writing of book chapters, preparing podcasts and how to be a good writer.

Elsevier publishing company made a presentation on writing and publishing of journal articles, and the use of e- resources. Ms Christine Nguku, the Head of Training at the Media Council of Kenya took the participants through writing media articles and how researchers can prepare for a TV and Radio interviews. Prof. Gituro Wainaina, Senior Lecturer, Dept. of Management Science at the University of Nairobi took the participants through repackaging research products for different audiences.
