KIPPRA signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) to enhance collaboration in research, policy advocacy, and capacity building on 6th March 2025. The MoU was signed by KIPPRA Ag. Executive Director, Dr. Eldah Onsomu, and APHRC Executive Director, Dr. Catherine Kyobutungi, in the presence of staff from both institutions. This partnership marks a significant step toward advancing evidence-based policymaking for sustainable development.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, KIPPRA Ag. Executive Director Dr. Eldah Onsomu lauded the partnership as a timely and strategic move. “This MoU reflects our mutual dedication to producing high-quality, policy-relevant research that directly contributes to national and regional development goals. Through this collaboration, we aim to strengthen the link between research and policy,” she said.

Dr. Catherine Kyobutungi, Executive Director of APHRC, echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the critical role of collaboration in tackling complex development issues. “At APHRC, we believe that research must inform policies that impact people’s lives. Partnering with KIPPRA enables us to scale up our impact, especially in areas such as health, education and demographic transitions,” she stated.

The MoU outlines key areas of cooperation, including joint research initiatives, policy dialogue forums, technical capacity development, and the sharing of data and knowledge resources. Both institutions also plan to co-host conferences and workshops aimed at strengthening the research-to-policy nexus.
