Food, Agriculture and Natural Resources Policy Analysis Network (FANRPAN) Kenya node held its first steering committee meeting on 26 August, 2013 at KIPPRA. The focus of the meeting was to take members through the origin and formation of the FANRPAN network and discuss Kenya’s roadmap to joining the FANRPAN network. Also, members discussed the operations and key activities of the node in 2013/2014.
Kenya was admitted as the 15th member of the FANRPAN at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) held Ezulwini Valley, Swaziland in September 2011. Currently, KIPPRA is the interim node hosting institution for FANRPAN in Kenya. Since Kenya’s admission into the network, the node secretariat has produced various reports, some of which are the outcome of the dialogue workshop held in September 2011. Several activities are lined up for the year including preparation of a calendar of engagements for the node at national and regional levels; identification and sharing of national policy agenda; scoping studies and analysis of gaps in Climate Change adaptation policies in Kenya; resource mobilization; focused thematic based research; and initiation of studies on Household Vulnerability Index (HVI) among others.
