The Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA) is proud to announce the release of the Kenya Economic Report 2013. The Report is the fifth in a series of annual reports on the Kenyan economy prepared by the Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA). The theme for 2013 is “Creating an Enabling Environment for Stimulating Investment for Competitive and Sustainable Counties”. The report recognizes the important role that county governments are expected to play in Kenya’s growth and development and underscores the need for effective coordination and cohesive intergovernmental relations in realizing a sound business environment that will support Kenya’s development goals in areas such as employment creation, equitable growth and poverty reduction. The report analyses the performance of the key sectors of the economy including agriculture, manufacturing, social sector, trade, financial services, tourism, small enterprises, infrastructure, environment and natural resources, and macroeconomic performance.
“The report gives the government and the private sector, and indeed all citizens, the opportunity to benchmark our mode of economic activities with what is happening in other countries that we share similar historical and economic orientation with” (Anne Waiguru, Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Devolution and Planning).
